Beware Of Fake Job Offers

Mon, 19 Sep 2011 07:05:00 GMT

Today I received an email that had dropped into my spam folder. I check the spam folder everyday as sometimes genuine emails drop into there as the spam filters sometimes incorrectly flag an email as spam. Today however one of these spam emails caught my eye, it had a subject entitled Data Entry Job so I was curious as to what sort of jobs they were claiming to offer.

I already knew this was a spam email message as literally millions are sent out everyday by spammer trying to trick genuine jobseekers out of money. This one however was more dubious still; it contained 2 attachments one of which was an email. If you even slightly suspect an email you should never download or open the attachments. You could quite easily end up infecting your computer with a virus which could result in your computer no longer working so it's just not worth the risk.

There are a number of different situations where you might find yourself being offered some type of online work that allows you to work from home. If the job offer is unexpected then you should be suspicious. Some circumstances that you should probably be aware of are jobs advertised through;

  • Spam or unsolicited email
  • Job listings with little of no detail
  • Sites that offer little useful information

It can be difficult to tell the genuine job offers from the ones that are not genuine. There is a rule of thumb that can cover most circumstances, if you are being asked for money then it is probably not genuine. There are a lot of companies that claim they need administration fees or some other type of upfront payment, these are the types of company you should stay away from.

Finding genuine work online

It can be difficult finding work full stop without having to deal with con artists. In the current difficult economic circumstances a job is not going to just fall into your lap, you are going to have to work a lot harder to get employment. There are a lot more people now chasing fewer jobs which means that you have to be willing to go that extra step to beat the competition.

fake job offersIt can take months if not years to find work these days so this is one of the reasons I have put together a page listing online work that you can do right now. These are not full time jobs but flexible part time work that will allow you to start earning whilst you are looking for that full time job. I know many people want to earn some extra cash to help with the bills, put towards a holiday, pay money towards the mortgage and a dozen other reasons. The Paid Survey UK list is a list of companies that will pay you for your opinion. It is a great no cost way to get some money coming in and for those who have never done any online work a great introduction to working from home.

There is much more opportunity available online to those who are willing to make that extra effort. Have you considered working freelance? For those of you who have typing and other skills there is plenty of opportunity out there. Freelancing jobs are for those of you who are self motivated and can make decisions for themselves and are another way to avoid the long search for work as an employee.
