If you are a copy typist or want to become a copy typist so that you can work from home you may be wondering where to find your search for work. If you are a copy typist then you have a skill that is in demand.
Copy typing from home can be quite a good form of stay at home work, you first have to find an employer willing to hire you. You also have to find an employer that will allow you to work from home. This type of work is either going to involve you getting work locally where the employer can drop off the work to type up. Otherwise you are going to have to find an employer that is willing to mail you the work that they want you to copy type. Whilst this type of work does exist there are very few jobs advertised online for this type of work.
Your best bet is to start your search locally. The reason for this is that many employers who need copy typing work done go to a local company to get it done for them. Secondly if there is a large volume of work it is often outsourced abroad where the work can be done for a fraction of the cost.
Many larger towns and cities often have a data processing or copy documentation companies. These firms take paper based documentation and turn them into digital copy. Part of the work that they do is to transcribe hand written documents onto computer. You could contact these firms and ask if they would be willing to hire you when they have this type of work available.
Sell them on your copy typing skills, speed and error checking abilities. Tell them that they do not have to hire you full time but they could pay you on a per job basis. Say that you will take away the documentation and do it from home and return it when completed. Many smaller firms like this sort of service as it means that can get a top quality typist as and when they need one.
