You may have considered a typing job they can do from home, you may have been a typist or have done typing as part of a previous job. Now you want to use those typing skills but you need to be able to stay at home due to either a lifestyle choice or out of necessity.
As long as computers have keyboards there will always be freelance typing jobs available such as copy typing, dictation typing jobs such as audio typing and many other freelance typist jobs. Home based typists will always be in demand as there are a lot of computer based small businesses and sole traders who cannot afford a full time typist so rely on freelance typists to do adhoc work.
Whilst it is easy to decide you are going to do typing from home the hard part is finding the work. There are many a one man band that are struggling with their own typing because they need to write business letters, type content for their websites, fill in lots of data on spreadsheets or databases.
You need a way to get in contact with these small business people and let them know you are offering a fast, professional, competitive, reliable and trustworthy service. Remember people running a business do not want their information getting into the wrong hands.
Your options for being a freelance typist are many fold, I would suggest if you are serious that you pursue every possible avenue. The more you get your name out their and build up a reputation the more work you are going to get.
Try starting off with some of the agencies, they do not cost anything to register with and it puts you in contact with lots of other firms that need typing work. This is a good starting point that will get your foot on the ladder.
It would also be prudent to set up a website promoting your services, this will bring in additional work as well as being a point of reference for potential customers. This will also allow you to also have a professional looking email address for your contacts.
There are also lots of business and internet forums, these are places where people go to discuss different business and internet related topics. You can join many of the forums for free and offer your services there.
Finally do not forget your local area, you could offer your secretarial skills to small local business people local to you. As well as typing you could offer lots of other office related services such as a telephone answering service.
