Hi, I am looking for typing from home work but every time I do a search it's like a cauldron and I give up as I cannot afford to be ripped off. Any decent sites you would recommend?
Thanks for your question Tracy. You are not alone in your search for typing from home work. The internet can seem like a cauldron full of scams and shysters; I get many questions from people who have contacted me (via the form at the bottom of this page) who are also fed up of being ripped off.
First off the easiest way to avoid being ripped off is to not hand over any money; it is as simple as that. Unfortunately far too many sites claim to offer an easy path to riches that simply does not exist. They prey on your desperation and greed, if it was as simple as they say we would all be living the life of Riley working a few hours a week from home.
The reality is that it requires you to invest time and effort into finding a typing job that you can do from home that is legitimate. Most of the typing based work is low paid but it is a good place to start whilst looking for a better paid position. I often suggest to people new to working from home or who want to dip a toe in the waters is to try doing paid consumer surveys. That link will take you to the section where I have put together a resource on how you can get paid for your opinion. Again you should not have to pay to do this type of work so if you see similar work elsewhere keep your money safely in your pocket. They should be paying you not the other way round.
If you want to work for a company that has home based vacancies then you should start trawling the recruitment and job agency sites. Many job listing sites will not list home based opportunities or list very few. There is however some good sites that have dedicated home working section that lists jobs that can be done from home. I have covered this question earlier when Clare asked about finding an evening typing job as she was a qualified typist.
