I am often reviewing sites to find out if they are a good opportunity for people to be able to earn some money from home. The things that I look for from these opportunities are that they cost you nothing to join and offer a genuine chance to earn money. One such site Prizes.org that I discovered a while ago, I took a look but as it was so new it was best to leave it until later. Fast forward to today and I discover the site is actually owned by Google, this is a good thing so back I go to take a closer look.
The idea behind Prizes.Org is very simple, people post contests where the winners can win cash prizes. The contests and competitions can be a simple as someone asking for idea for a name for their pet cat to more complex contests like asking you to design a business logo. A contest can be started by anyone who joins the site and can offer a prize of as little as $5 (£3.21) or as much as $1,000(£641) although at the time of writing most seem to be $10(£6.42).
It appears to be a legitimate way to earn some money online by helping out other people and is a lot different from most typing jobs. The fact that it is owned by Google gives it credibility and most important of all it does not cost anything to sign up. They do deal in dollars rather than UK pounds but many international sites use the American dollar as their main currency. The money that you earn or rather win is paid in dollars but when you transfer the money into your Paypal account it can be transferred into your UK bank account in pounds.
By entering a contest you are not guaranteed to win the prize money. The winner of each contest is either chosen by the person who starts the contest and is offering the prize money or is chosen if your answer gets the most votes. This is unlikely to earn you a full time income but is another string to your online earning portfolio that will help get you closer to your earnings goal.
I have noticed that some of the questions get a lot of entries, often in the hundreds and this is going to make it a lot likely for your entry to be chosen. Try entering the contests with the fewest entries but only have a short period of time left to go which will give you a better chance of winning. Make sure you read the requests written by the competition poster carefully as you entry may get ignored if it does not relate to the type of answer that they wanted.
Earnings from sites such as this on their own are not going to earn you that much, at least not provide a significant income. You should as part of your wider online job portfolio have several diversified sources of income to include other sources such as paid surveys. Having several typing jobs means that you are diversifying which means that your income is more secure and it makes the work more interesting having several different types of task to do. If you only had one main job and lost that only source of income it would be devastating. If you have several smaller jobs losing one of these would only be a set back and not a disaster.
