The Work From Home Get Started Guide

After receiving lots of questions about home typing jobs that were very similar in nature I thought it would be useful to put together a guide which answers the most common queries.

First off before you read any further you need to assess your skills, qualities and qualifications. I receive many questions from people looking for typing work yet can hardly type themselves. If you are serious about doing typing work you have to be able to spot spelling mistakes and are spot on with your grammar. Using the letter 'Y' will not pass for the word why and 'i' should always be capitalised for the word I.

Going by the amount of questions I get sent to to TypingJobsFromHome.co.uk the most common query is exactly where to find typing jobs. There are hundreds if not thousands of job listing and job agency type sites on the internet. However I have found them to be very poor for listing work from home jobs or the ones that they do list are more or less scams. It appears many of the listings that are placed on these sites are not vetted or if they are the sites must have a very low quality threshold.

Work from home job sites

There is light at the end of the tunnel and there are a few job listing sites that do list genuine work from home typing vacancies. These sites seem to provide a good range of job vacancies that are suited to people wanting to work from home. As always do make sure you do your homework before applying for jobs.

First up is a site called WorkingMums.co.uk and as the name suggests primarily lists jobs for mums although not exclusively. They have a section devoted to home working which is unusual for many of these types of site. Most if not all the jobs listed seem to be from genuine employers with many brand name companies listing their vacancies. They do charge employers to list their job vacancies which help deter the scammers.

Next up is TheHomeworkerJob.com which lists home based jobs for countries worldwide so when you visit the site you will want to focus on the UK jobs. They do seem to have lots of listings however many are not strictly home based vacancies but rather your base is your home rather than an office but you may be required to spend most of your time out and about.

RemoteEmployment.com have a home based job section although it does seem to list lots of franchise or party plan and distributor types of work which means you will essentially be working for yourself. However they do seem to list genuine opportunities rather than outright scams that plague the internet.

Become a freelancer

Where as a job listings site or online job agency allows you to find work from home job working for a single employer a freelancing site allows you to find work from many employers who you do small jobs for that may last anywhere from an hour to several months depending on the size of the project.

Freelancing is a way for you to be able to work from home but rather than working a job you work for yourself. Many people have some hesitations about working for themselves as they think it is too complicated and wouldn't know where to start. By going through a freelancing site you have all your potential customers in one place.

The way freelancing works is that potential employers post a job, this can be a project that may only take a few hours or it may be a project where you could have consistent work for several hours a day for many months or even years. To get this freelance work you have to bid on projects against other workers. The employer will pick you based on your skills and the price you charge.

There are several sites where you can find work and I have listed the ones that list typing based work. Many of these types of site are generally more focussed on technical jobs but there are many typing based jobs listed. I have left out a few sites from the list as they either have few jobs to list or are less relevant to typing related work.

You can sign up for and use these sites for free, there are paid premium options available but you do not need these to start off. Once you have signed up you create your profile to let potential employers know about your skills and experience. You can then bid on a job which means you search through the list of jobs that employers want workers to do and find ones relevant to your skills. You then say how much you can do the job for. If the employer picks you, you can then complete the job and once complete get paid.

Paid Surveys and other online pocket money earners

Applying for jobs and making the effort to find freelance work does require be totally committed to what you are doing. If you feel that you can't give online working your full commitment or feel that you are just too out of your comfort zone there are other jobs that you can do that make it much easier to earn a bit of pocket money.

Taking up these pocket money jobs will not be a full time career for most of you although some do make a living from it. Instead it is a great way to earn a little pocket money and at the same time get used to working online, build your confidence and at the same time learn a little more about what it means to do typing work from home.

I am continuously testing different sites such as paid survey sites to see which one perform the best. This is generally the reason that the list of sites that I recommend are often very short. Generally for every 10 sites I review only 1 will end up being suitable or worthwhile for visitors to TypingJobsFromHome.co.uk. This testing process also helps weed out the scam sites of which some can be very wily and difficult to detect.

Free To Enter Competitions

Entering free competitions is a full time occupation for some people and some manage to make a full time living from it. They win prizes and cash, the prizes can often be exchange for cash equivalents or if not sold on. Many professional competition players do this and some do very well.

These days you can enter competitions for free online as it would be far too expensive to buy all those magazines just to enter the competitions. There are sites set up that put all the draws in one place making them easier to enter. Some of the competitions that they run are not entered by many people so you have a much better chance of winning. It is also not going to cost you anything to enter unlike the ones they advertise on television where you have to phone up a premium rate number.

Now you are probably not going to be able to make a career of this unless you join hundreds of prize draw sites and enter the competitions daily. This is what the professionals do, they spend hours every day entering all they can and this pays off as the odds are the more they enter the more likely they are to win. They may enter a thousand draws but only win one but that one win could be the equivalent of hundreds or even thousands of pounds.

There are many different types of site from lotto sites to competition sites but all are free to enter and you could end up earning a decent amount of extra pocket money. So along with the list of free to join competition sites below I also have some advice.

Obviously these sites cannot afford to just give away prizes so they make their money by sending out email advertising and displaying advertising on their sites. So as to not end up clogging your inbox up with email I advise you to set up a free email account and use that email address to sign up with the different sites. Some free email companies include Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo.
