Working From Home Typing - How To Avoid The Scams

You are in a position where you would love to be able to do typing jobs from home, you have the typing skills, the hours to spare but you do need some flexibility to be able to fit around your lifestyle.

In the UK there are many people looking for working from home typing jobs that they can do in the evenings, at weekends or even full time during weekdays. Whether you just need some extra money for Christmas or a holiday, help pay off the mortgage or simply cover the cost of bills. A typing based job that you could do from home would be ideal.

Avoiding the work from home scams

So you have scoured the internet but are not too sure what is truly legitimate and who is trying to scam you. Having been in the same position as you and having tried everything under the sun I can report to you what actually works and what to avoid.

Let's start with the no cost options, you may have come across these terms such as get paid to click, paid to search, fill out surveys or get paid to view ads. Whilst these sites will cost you nothing to join you will make no money from them. Sure you may have read the odd review from someone claiming to be making money, unfortunately for most of us this will just not be true.

I have tried all of these variations of schemes and I found that if I worked my socks off I could probably earn about a fiver a week. This is not an over exaggeration. My advice to you is do not waste your time.

Next up are the outright scams and misleading ads. If you read an ad or review that claims you can make thousands just by processing rebates, filling out surveys, typing ads and so on I urge you to avoid these. Sure there may be the odd genuine offer but in the 3 years of researching I have never found them.

Any offer you come across be sure to read carefully (between the lines) as you will find that you are not being offered work. You are paying for a system, this system may well work for some people but for most of us we will not have the skills, knowledge, experience or indeed all the information you need to make this work. They will also fail to mention that on top of the money you pay for this system upfront you will also have numerous expenses just to implement the system.

So where exactly can you find a work from home typing job without getting ripped of or scammed. There is genuine work out there and employers want to employ you as much as you want to work for them. I was talking to a colleague recently who works from home as an events consultant, basically she finds out who wants to go to seminars. She had a large contract coming up an needed an extra person to work from home updating a spreadsheet of potential clients. The work needed someone to work through the list phoning customers and updating their contact details. Relatively simple work and something many people could easily do from home.

First try offline, talk to friends and relatives, don't be afraid to call up small business people from the local ads you see in your local paper. Why not place a small ad in local shops and the paper offering your services. Be sure to state what services you are offering and show how reliable you will be.

Next up search through the online job listings, the larger agencies are the best as they have genuine jobs and many have specific home working sections. Do however be wary as some listing will be thinly disguised pitches to sell you something rather than offer you a job.

After this if you are more of a go getter then you can join some of the freelance sites and bid for different jobs. This is a good way to get started although it does not suit everyone as it does require you to be self motivated and be able to stick to deadlines. The benefits however are an opportunity to tap into an almost limitless source of work for yourself.
